From office furniture ideas to a fully redesigned workspace in just three weeks

Over the summer, we worked with Hague Group on the refurbishment of their Preston PLS office, helping them transform their initial ideas into a practical, well-designed and fully furnished workspace.

The project began with a visit to our showroom from the Managing Director, who wanted to explore different office furniture options and get a better idea of what could work within the refurbished office.

The client already had a basic layout in mind, but we saw an opportunity to improve how the space could work.

Rethinking the office layout

Rather than simply supplying furniture to the original plan, Jamie drew the office up in CAD and developed alternative layout options.

This allowed us to look at the workspace as a whole and identify opportunities to improve the flow of the office, make better use of available space and create a more practical working environment.

Our alternative layouts provided:

• Improved movement and flow around the office

• More usable space around individual desks

• Better positioning of storage

• A layout designed around the existing underfloor power boxes

• More efficient use of the available floor space

• A workspace that was easier to navigate and use

By looking at the furniture and layout together, rather than treating them as separate decisions, we were able to give Hague Group a number of practical options to consider.

Furniture options to suit the budget

Once the layout options had been established, we presented a range of office furniture styles and specifications, along with different pricing options.

This gave the client flexibility to choose the right combination of furniture, finishes and investment for their requirements.

The project was then taken forward by Emma, Group Chief Operating Officer, who worked closely with our Caroline to refine the layout and select the preferred options.

Choosing the details in our showroom

A particularly important part of the process was giving Hague Group the opportunity to see and experience the furniture before making the final decisions.

Emma visited our showroom to select colours and finishes, try out office chairs and compare different fabrics and upholstery options.

For us, this is a really valuable part of the service.

Choosing an office chair isn't just about how it looks. It needs to feel comfortable and work for the people who will be sitting in it every day.

Likewise, colours, finishes and fabrics can have a huge impact on the finished workspace. Being able to see the options in person makes these decisions much easier and gives clients confidence in the final specification.

Our showroom gives customers the opportunity to see, touch and try the furniture before they buy, rather than having to make important decisions from a catalogue alone.

From order to installation in three weeks

Once the final decisions had been made and quantities confirmed, we were able to move quickly.

From placing the order through to installation, the entire project was completed within three weeks.

The installation itself presented an additional challenge. The Preston office was on the first floor and there was no lift, meaning every item of furniture had to be carried upstairs manually.

It was hard work and a time-consuming installation, but our team simply got on with it.

The furniture was delivered and installed professionally, with the team managing the practical challenges of the site to get the office completed and ready for use.
